India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Yojna Patel, condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 civilian deaths, marking the highest casualties since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
She highlighted the ongoing threat of cross-border terrorism and India’s extensive experience with it, recognizing the profound effects on victims and society.
Patel expressed gratitude for global solidarity and support from world leaders against terrorism and cited Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif’s admissions as an “open confession” of Pakistan’s role in global terrorism.
She reaffirmed India’s commitment to fighting terrorism, welcomed the establishment of the Victims of Terrorism Association (VoTAN), and emphasized the need to prioritize victims in global counterterrorism efforts.
