Lawyer Writes Letter to Attorney General for Contempt Action over Nishikant Dubey

A Supreme Court lawyer has written to Attorney General R. Venkataramani seeking approval for contempt action against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Supreme Court lawyer Brajesh Singh has also demanded that contempt proceedings be initiated against Nishikant Dubey and BJP MLA from West Bengal, Angamitra Paul.

This morning, a lawyer attempted to bring Nishikant Dubey’s statement to the attention of a bench headed by Justice B.R. Gavai in the Supreme Court. Justice Gavai then asked the lawyer what he wanted. The lawyer responded that they were seeking to initiate contempt proceedings against Nishikant Dubey. The court then stated that there is a process established for this. There is no need to ask the court; assent from the Attorney General is required.
