More than 60 percent of voters turnout in Maharashtra and Haryana

In Maharashtra, more than 60 percent polling has been recorded in the assembly elections, while Haryana has recorded around 65 percent polling till 6 am. Voting was held today for 288 seats in Maharashtra and 90 seats in Haryana.

Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said the turnout was peaceful and smooth in both states. Shri Sinha also said that polling in Naxal-affected areas was also peaceful.

Mr. Sinha thanked Community Radio for creating voter awareness in two states.

By-elections were held today in 17 states in two parliamentary seats and 51 assembly seats. Shri Sinha said that the Election Commission team will soon visit Jharkhand to take stock of the preparations for the assembly elections in the state.
