Newly married bride commits suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A newly married woman from Khammam committed suicide by dowry harassment and mental torture by her husband at KPHB Colony in Hyderabad.

According to police, the deceased, Maloth Pujitha of Salebanjar in Konijerla mandal, married Jatoth Srinivas of the same village on April 16. Her parents, Maloth Srinivas and Nagamani, had chosen Srinivas as their son-in-law, hoping their daughter would remain close to them.

However, the couple moved to Hyderabad soon after the wedding, as Srinivas worked as a salesman at a jewellery shop in KPHB. The couple lived in a rented house in the colony. On Saturday night, Srinivas reportedly returned home from work and found Pujitha hanging from the ceiling fan. He then informed her family about the incident.

Pujitha’s grandmother, M Bhadramma, lodged a complaint with the KPHB police, accusing Srinivas and his family members of abetting Pujitha’s suicide. Based on the complaint police started investigation.
