NUJ (India) appeals to PM Modi for financial assistance to Journalists

National Union of Journalists-India has given financial assistance to unemployed journalists in the BJP ruled states due to the impact of the ongoing lockdown to prevent the corona pandemic. At the same time, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has been sought for help in the Congress ruled states.
NUJ(I) President Ras Bihari said that on behalf of the organization, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Reddy, Telangana Chief Minister K.K. A letter was sent to Chandrashekhar demanding the assistance of journalists struggling with the economic crisis.
Ras Bihari said that the letter sent to PM Modi said that the media is playing its important role during the outbreak of Corona epidemic. A large number of journalists have also been infected. A journalist Pankaj Kulshrestha has also died in Agra. Along with this, the outbreak of Corona epidemic has had a very bad impact on the media world in the country. Employees are being fired in large numbers from newspapers. Most newspapers have cut their workers’ salaries by 30 to 50 percent.
The President of NUJ(I) further said that the condition of journalists working at the district and local level is very bad.Such journalists are unable to raise house rent, children’s fees and other expenses. .
NUJ President Ras Bihari has demanded financial assistance to the financially weak journalists working everywhere including Delhi.
