PM Modi inaugurates India-assisted Rail Infrastructure Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President H.E. Anura Kumara Dissanayake inaugurated two railway projects in Anuradhapura, developed with Indian support. They launched the refurbished 128 km Maho-Omanthai railway line, aided by USD 91.27 million, and initiated construction of an advanced signaling system from Maho to Anuradhapura, funded by a USD 14.89 million grant.

These projects are key in enhancing north-south rail connectivity and improving passenger and freight movement across Sri Lanka, representing a significant achievement in the India-Sri Lanka development partnership.

Additionally, the leaders visited the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple, honoring the historic ties between the two nations, with the revered Mahabodhi tree symbolizing their long-standing relationship.
