Breaking Tradition: TRS Founder’s Family Absent from Lok Sabha Elections for the First Time in 23 Years!

Hyderabad: For the first ti in 23 years, the family of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) founder K. Chandrasekhar Rao is not participating in the Lok Sabha elections. KCR or his family members have been a part of every Parliament and Assembly election since 2004, but this time, there were speculations that he or his son K. T. Rama Rao or nephew T. Harish Rao would contest. However, none of them entered the fray, including KCR’s daughter K. Kavitha, who lost the 2019 election from Nizamabad. This is a significant change for the party, which was formed in 2001 to revive the Telangana movement and achieved its goal of forming a separate state in 2014.

TRS has also recently lost power to Congress in the Assembly elections. The party has declared candidates for all 17 seats going to polls on May 13, with Gaddam Srinivas Yadav as their candidate for Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat. This is a major shift for the party, which has always maintained a strong presence in both state and national politics through the participationq of KqCR and his family members.
