In celebration of National Women’s Day, the Telangana government organised a programme named Honouring Women in Journalism. Ministers KTR, Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Satyavathi Rathore honoured the women journalists who have rendered outstanding service in journalism in this programme at People’s Plaza, Hyderabad. In particular, Indian Journalist Indrani Sarkar, who represents India in an international campaign, discussed various topics like atrocities against journalists and problems faced by women journalists in India, and was presented with recognition awards on behalf of the Telangana government. She was appreciated for playing a valuable role in journalism and for her outstanding performance for a satellite channel, Munsif TV.

Minister KTR said that women journalists are facing a lot of pressure in the performance of their duties. IT and Municipal Minister KTR said that the journalists have given accreditation cards to 19,000 journalists in the state. All the women journalists should unite and form the Women Journalist Union. On this occasion, State Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathore congratulated the women journalists who are serving in the journalism profession. I appreciated their services. Other eminent journalists were also honoured.
Speaking at the venue, KTR informed attendees that the state government is launching the “Women in Journalism Leadership Accelerator Programme 2023′ for women who want to explore new areas in journalism.
The country’s first-of-its kind two-day leadership programme will be organised by WeHub, the state government’s initiative for an incubator for women entrepreneurs. “The accelerator programme is being offered for those who are interested in exploring new areas and frontiers in the field of journalism, making a name for themselves at the national and international level, and becoming entrepreneurs,” said the minister.
