Counting begins amid tight security in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh

Who will form the government in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, it will be clear today. The political picture of the assembly elections held in both the states will be clear to a great extent by afternoon. Apart from Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh assembly elections and one Lok Sabha seat of the country, the counting of votes for the by-elections in six assembly seats in five states has started at 08 am.

In some places postal ballots are being counted first. After this EVM will open. The first clear trend is likely to come by 09 am. Gujarat has a total of 182 assembly seats. Here 92 seats are required to touch the majority mark. Pre-poll surveys have predicted a landslide victory for the BJP in Gujarat. Himachal Pradesh has 68 assembly seats. The majority mark here is 35. Right now there is a BJP government here. The pre-poll survey has predicted a tough fight between the BJP and the Congress here.

Along with Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, the results of one Lok Sabha by-election and six assembly seats in five states will also come today. Out of these, the entire country is eyeing the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the results of Rampur and Khatauli assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, Padmapur in Odisha, Sardarshahar in Rajasthan, Kurhani in Bihar and Bhanupratappur assembly seat in Chhattisgarh will also be declared.
