A blackout mock drill was conducted at several major locations across the country on Wednesday. This exercise was carried out on the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The objective was to assess preparedness to deal with emergencies.
Power supply was cut off for a brief period at several important buildings, ranging from the Rashtrapati Bhavan and Vijay Chowk in Delhi to the Raj Bhavan in Patna at 7 Pm today. The blackout is a measure to test the nation’s security system and response capability.
The drill included major cities across the country, including the national capital Delhi, Barmer in Rajasthan, Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, Surat in Gujarat, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, and Patna in Bihar.
Since morning, mock drills were being conducted in large cities across the country. Security forces and administration coordinated in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Gwalior to practice various emergency scenarios.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority, the blackout action plan is a crucial component of civil safety preparedness. Remaining calm and ready during emergencies or adverse conditions is vital for ensuring national security. Regular drills and awareness about such plans can help citizens respond effectively in critical situations.
The Indian Armed Forces executed ‘Operation Sindoor’ early Wednesday morning. This operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). This further emphasizes the significance of today’s blackout and mock drill.
Under Operation Sindoor, India delivered a strong response to the terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people.
