Syed Mohammed Hussain Bags Gold Medal at 1st Shubokai International Karate Championships

Hyderabad, 1 January: Syed Mohammed Hussain, representing Pako Martial Art Academy, achieved a remarkable feat by clinching a gold medal in the men’s 61 kg category at the 1st Shubokai International Senior Karate Championships. The event took place at the Kotal Vijay Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from December 30 to 31, 2019.

Transitioning into the Youth category and competing in the bantamweight division, the Hyderabad karate champion showcased exceptional skill by defeating the reigning bantamweight Junior World Champion from Ukraine in the semi-finals. In the final face-off, the Chinese opponent proved to be a formidable adversary. Despite Hussain’s determined efforts to break through her defence, she adeptly countered and secured points.

His outstanding performance earned him recognition from the Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Srinivas Goud, and Sports Chairman of Telangana, Venkateshwar Reddy. At just 18 years old, Hussain competed in the bantamweight division and defeated the reigning Junior World Champion in the semi-finals. In the final round, he faced a tough opponent from China but remained determined and emerged victorious.

This win adds to his previous gold medal at the same championship and showcases his exceptional skill and determination in the sport of karate.
