Thunderstorms, gusty winds likely across Telangana over next two days

Hyderabad: Weather conditions across Telangana are expected to remain unsettled over the next few days, with the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several parts of the state.

According to officials, the change in weather pattern is likely to bring short spells of rain along with gusty winds, particularly during afternoon and evening hours. Wind speeds in many areas may range between 30 to 40 kmph, creating brief but noticeable disruptions in normal conditions.

Districts likely to see higher impact

While rain activity is expected across the state, certain districts may witness more intense weather conditions.

Jaya Shankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal and Hanumakonda are among the areas where heavier rainfall is likely in the coming days. In these districts, thunderstorms may be accompanied by stronger winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 kmph.

Such conditions can lead to sudden changes in visibility, localised waterlogging and minor disruptions, particularly in low-lying areas.

Mixed pattern across the state

In other districts, the rainfall pattern is expected to remain scattered.

Light to moderate showers may occur at different intervals, along with thunderstorm activity and gusty winds. The nature of these showers is likely to be localised, meaning some areas may receive rainfall while others remain dry within short distances.

This kind of weather is typical during seasonal transitions, when heat conditions combine with moisture in the atmosphere, leading to the formation of thunderclouds.

Temperature trend

Despite the rainfall forecast, temperatures are not expected to drop immediately.

The weather department has indicated that maximum temperatures across Telangana are likely to remain largely unchanged over the next two days. Daytime heat may continue, especially during morning and early afternoon hours.

However, a gradual decline of around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is expected over the following three days, as cloud cover and intermittent rain begin to influence overall conditions.

What residents may experience

For people across the state, the weather over the next few days is likely to follow a pattern of hot daytime conditions followed by sudden cloud build-up and rainfall later in the day.

Thunderstorms may develop quickly, often accompanied by strong winds and lightning. These changes can occur within short timeframes, making conditions unpredictable in some areas.

Urban areas may experience temporary waterlogging during heavier showers, while rural regions could see brief interruptions in outdoor activities.

Advisory for the public

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of thunderstorm activity.

People are advised to avoid open areas during lightning, secure loose outdoor items and exercise caution while travelling, especially during strong winds and rain.

Motorists may need to be alert to sudden changes in road conditions, including reduced visibility and slippery surfaces.

Seasonal context

The current weather pattern reflects a transition phase, where rising temperatures begin to interact with moisture, leading to convective rainfall.

Such conditions are common during this period and often act as a temporary relief from heat, though they may also bring short-term disruptions.

The days ahead

With rain activity expected to continue and intensify in select districts, the overall weather across Telangana is likely to remain dynamic.

While the rainfall may bring some relief from the prevailing heat, the combination of thunderstorms, gusty winds and fluctuating temperatures means conditions will continue to change over the coming days.

Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts and plan their activities accordingly.
