IMD Warns of Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, Aug 24 (RIAAN) – Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are likely to see increased rainfall activity on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds in several areas.
The weather system is linked to a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions, which is expected to strengthen monsoon activity over parts of the two states.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall particularly over parts of North Andhra, while several areas of Telangana are also likely to receive heavy showers.
Hyderabad is expected to remain under cloudy conditions with the possibility of rain and thunderstorms.
The weather system could also bring gusty winds, making conditions difficult for motorists and commuters, particularly in areas that receive intense showers within a short period.
The IMD has advised people in affected areas to remain alert during thunderstorms and avoid unnecessary exposure in open areas during lightning activity.
The wider weather system is also affecting other parts of the country. The IMD has issued an orange warning for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha and East Madhya Pradesh on Monday, while several other states are expected to experience heavy rain during the next few days.
For Telangana, the immediate concern is likely to be water accumulation in low-lying areas and disruption to normal movement if rainfall becomes intense.
Residents should follow local weather advisories and municipal warnings as conditions develop through the day.
