On Saturday, Indian air defence units shot down multiple armed Pakistani drones over Amritsar as Pakistan announced a counteroffensive operation dubbed “Bunyan Marsoos.” The Indian Army reported that the hostile drones were detected around 5 AM and were promptly destroyed, highlighting Pakistan’s actions as a violation of India’s sovereignty and a threat to civilian safety.
Defence officials noted that the drones were of the Byker YIHA III Kamikaze model and were targeting residential areas in Punjab. Following this, the Pakistani military launched its operation targeting various military sites across India, including missile stations and airfields.
The name “Bunyan Marsoos” references an Arabic verse from the Quran that emphasizes solidarity in battle. Furthermore, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a meeting of key civilian and military leaders to discuss national security matters, including aspects of the nation’s nuclear capabilities, according to AlJazeera reports.
