Women burned the house of the main accused in the Manipur case in order to evacuate the accused’s family from the village

Imphal, July 21 : Tension prevails in Manipur after a video of a shameful act against two women went viral. On Thursday, a group of local women set ablaze the house of Huirem Herodas Meitei, the main accused in the shameful act, at Yairipok village in Manipur’s Thoubal district. The people of the village have also decided to evict the family of the accused from the village. The police are running a campaign to arrest the other accused in the case.

Regarding the incident, the police said on Friday that after the arrest of Herodas Meitei, the main accused in the incident that embarrassed Manipur, the house of the accused was set ablaze by agitated women of the Nangpak Sekmai area. The police are investigating the matter.
Thoubal district police arrested four people on Thursday in connection with this inhuman act. Among those arrested are Huirem Herodas, 30, and Vishnu Naha of Yairipak, the main accused in the shameful incident. Apart from this, Yumlembam Jeevan, who recorded the viral video, has also been arrested by the police in Nongpok Sekmai. The main accused, Hurem Herod, lives with his mother at Pesi Awang Leikai under Yairipak police station and is married. It is learned that a meeting of the villagers has also decided to throw out the accused Herodas and his family from the village of Pesi Awang Leikai for being involved in such heinous crimes against women. The people of Pesi village condemned this inhuman incident by holding a public meeting at the Pesi Youth Development Club grounds.
The police are trying to arrest others involved in the incident. The police have formed several teams under the leadership of senior officers to arrest the accused. Police officials say that soon other accused will also be arrested.
