The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed a bill on the protection of the rights of transgenders after a resolution referred to the Select Committee of the Upper House.
The Lok Sabha passed the bill on 5 August this year.
The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2019 seeks to provide a mechanism for social, economic and educational empowerment of transgenders and to be considered and passed in the Rajya Sabha on 20 November by Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot was transferred.
